The Assam Public Service Commission invites Application for filling up 45 (forty
five) nos. post of Forest Rangers in the Assam Forest Service under Environment and Forest
Deptt, Assam in the Pay scale of Pay Band 3(PB-3), Rs. 8000/- to Rs. 35000/- and Grade Pay
Rs. 4500/- under the provisions of Rule 2(i) of “I – Rules for appointment to the Class of
Forest Rangers” given in para 4 of Chapter – 1 of “Assam Forest Manual, Vol-II” and
thereafter for undergoing in-service Certificate Course of Training in Forestry and under the
provision of the Govt. of India, Ministry of Environment & Forest – Entrance and Training
Rules (Revised),2004 for Forest Range Officers vide Govt. of India Ministry of Environment
& Forests F. No. 3-17/99- RT(II) dated 21-06-2004 as notified in Gazette of India on 22-07-
2004 vide Ministry of Environment & Forests (RT Division) notification No. GSR. 465 (E),
dtd. 21-07-2004, in any Forestry Training College/Institute, as specified by Govt. of India.
Eligilibilty Criteria:
1. The candidate must be an Indian Citizen as defined in Articles 5-8 of the Constitution
of India
2. Age: Candidate must not be less than 21 years or more than 38 years of age on the
1st January, 2014. The upper age limit will be relaxed in the case of Schedule
Caste/Tribes candidates upto 5(five) years.
3. Educational Qualification : Applicant must possess Bachelor’s Degree (or
equivalent) in Science or Engineering of any recognized University with at least one
of the following subjects :-
(i) Agriculture
(ii) Botany
(iii) Chemistry
(iv) Computer Applications/Computer Science
(v) Engineering
(Agricultural/Chemical/Civil/Computer/Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical)
(vi) Environmental Science
(vii) Forestry
(viii) Geology
(ix) Horticulture
(x) Mathematics
(xi) Physics
(xii) Statistics
(xiii) Veterinary Science
(xiv) Zoology
